It is a play on stereotypes with surprises in characterisation. It deals, affectionately enough, with a farming couple married for 25 years whose relationship is stale and sometimes tense. ... The garden, [the wife\'s] personal achievement, has gone as far as it can go, because of an ugly great hedge he has been going to do something about for ages.
